When the van broke down the band was on its last legs
I think that we were somewhere outside of Winnipeg
It had been four days since we… we played the last show
The cash box was empty, it was starting to snow

Danny went crazy and Sandy broke veg
Peter came pretty close to losing his edge
We were close to hitting bottom, we were standing on the ledge
When we heard about a gingerbread house show!

We got the van running, we headed north
the GPS had stopped working, of course
The directions made no sense, but we’d gotten this far
Something about hoof prints in the snow, and a star?

Danny got paranoid, Sandy went quiet
Suddenly we heard what sounded like a riot
A jolly bearded man who could have probably used a diet
In the driveway at a gingerbread house show!

Then what to my wondering eyes did appear?
But elves screening shirts a nd a drunk reindeer!
Mrs. Claus knocked on the window and offered us some beers
She said “Welcome to our house show. Load in all your gear!”

Danny tuned his Gibson, Sandy grabbed her bass
Rudolph seemed aggressive, he got right in Peter’s face
He said “Welcome to the North Pole, the place is rad as shit”
Then Santa grabbed Rudolph yelled SEE YOU IN THE PIT

Next thing you know it was almost Christmas morning
North Pole PD broke up the show without warning
Mrs. Claus baked us cookies and she let us charge our phones
Gave us enough gas money to get all the way back home

Danny drove all day while the rest of us slept
In one of the Dakotas I think Sandy got a text
She said “You guys, this is crazy, you’re not gonna believe
They want us to come back and headline New Year’s Eve
